Common Nouns What are Common Nouns?

Common Nouns Common nouns are objects that do not begin with a capital letter, for example: ‘cat’, ‘dog’, ‘pineapple’ or ‘floor’.

Can you think of any more Common Nouns? If you are stuck, ask your teacher.

Proper Nouns What are Proper Nouns?

Proper Nouns Proper nouns are names of people or places that begin with a capital letter, for example: ‘Matthew’, ‘London’, ‘Charlie’ or ‘Venice’.

Abstract Nouns What are Abstract Nouns?

Abstract Nouns Abstract nouns are names of feelings or emotions, for example: ‘happiness’, ‘love’, ‘hatred’ or ‘jealousy’.
