Presentation transcript:

 You could sum up ceremonies that celebrate babies being born in Christianity, Judaism & Islam as being about: Willies, Water & Whispering (!)  Can you explain what this means? To start the first task in our ‘journey of life’ display – about birth  The first thing we need to do this lesson is put our target levels into our books.

 You need to work in your groups from when we first planned your displays – move to sit with your groups now.  What religion did each group decide their display would be about? This is your task: Your friend has just had a baby. She has recently converted to your group’s religion, but she doesn’t know what she is meant to do following the birth of her baby. You need to let her know the main ways in which birth is marked in the religion. You need to present the information to her in a way that could be put into a birth congratulations card (e.g. leaflet, information card, magazine article etc). You also need to make the congratulations card!  You have today’s lesson to plan your task & begin making it.  You have next lesson to finish making it & we will also evaluate your work next lesson.

In your own words, in the back of your books, write down what you have to do in this challenge. Don’t put any of your own ideas down yet, just stick to writing down what I’ve just told you, in your own words.

We have to… Begin working on your plans – when I’ve seen your plans & am happy with them, then you can begin making them on coloured paper/card.

Think about the work you have completed in today’s lesson. Which of the following key skills have you been developing?  Application of number  Communication  Working with others  Problem solving  ICT  Improving own learning & performance Can you think of any other skills that you have developed? Homework In you groups discuss what you need to do at home to ensure that your group can finish your task next lesson.
