Early Concerns Even before World War II had ended, tensions between Soviet Union and USA had arose  Concerns about Germany USSR wanted them weak USA wanted them to rebuild USSR was Communist USA was Capitalist

Yalta Conference Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill met to discuss the war and other issues  Poland Polish leaders fled to Britain during the war USSR pushed Germany out of Poland and wanted communist leaders to take over FDR and Churchill wanted Poland to have free elections to decide who would lead them  Compromised  Communists would keep the established government, but elections would be held as soon as possible

Yalta Conference Declaration of Liberated Europe  Gave the right to have all European countries to choose their form of government Germany  Divided Germany into four zones, Berlin also France, Great Britain, USSR, and USA would each control a zone  USSR wanted reparations Stalin almost immediately started violating the issues discussed
