Teacher Attrition Nationally: 50% leave teaching within first 5 years 2 million teachers needed in the next decade

California Teacher Supply Issues Math / Science / Special Education Shortages Aging teacher workforce 33% of teachers are over the age of 50 20% eligible for retirement in next 5 years Declining number of credentials issued 11% decrease in 04/05 7% were Math and Science Fewer entering the teacher pipeline 40% decrease in number taking CBEST over 4 years
