WELCOME TO H2 Ms. Massara and her 3 rd grade class

What is the theme of our class?  Our class theme is “on the road to success”  Why?  We get smart in school so we can be successful in life

What is our BIG GOAL?  We have TWO big GOALS! 1.1. To get a 80% or higher on our math tests. Then, at the end of the year we can get an 80% or higher on our Hawaii State Test To get better in reading by 1 year and 6 months! That means if you are at a 3 rd grade reading level now, your goal is to be at a 4 th grader in his/her second half of school

What is your BIG GOAL?  What do you want to be when you grow up?  A policeman?  A doctor?  A vet?  A lawyer?  If you wan that job you must work hard now.  YOU CAN REACH YOUR DREAM!

CLASS RULES  The class rules are located on our white board in the back.  The class rules are:  Try your best! Don’t Quit!  Be responsible  Be respectful  Be Attentive ! Listen the first time!  STAY SEATED

What do I do if…  I want to throw something away?  Stay SEATED. HOLD up a FIST. I will let you know if you can throw it away  I want a tissue?  Point to your NOSE  Go to the bathroom  You can only go to the bathroom BEFORE class, BEFORE recess, and BEFORE lunch. NO OTHER TIME.  Want a drink of water?  Bring a water bottle to class

Rewards!  We have tickets as rewards. Tickets earn prizes.  We have personal tickets, class tickets, and table tickets.  For good behavior you get a ticket

Personal Rewards  I will give you a personal ticket if you are well behaved  When I give you a personal ticket, write your name on it. Then put your ticket under your name tag on your desk.  On Friday I have a raffle. The person whose ticket is chosen wins a prize!  The more tickets you have the bigger chance you have to win!

Table and Class Rewards  If your table gets 25 tickets you get a prize.  If the class gets 25 tickets you get a party!

Consequences  The consequence chart is written on the board.  We use a color system. If you move down the colors that is not good. You never want to do that!  You will get one verbal warning before you move a color.

In the MORNING  Hang your bookbag and lunch (if you have it) outside.  Make sure you took everything out of your bookbag that you will need.  If you are eating a school lunch, take an index card that is on the table.  If you have a worry or something bad – write about it and throw it in our bin. THEN You don’t have to worry any more!

In the AFTERNOON  Write down your homework  TAKE off your NAME tag  Get your homework out of the bin
