Presentation transcript:

 GRC is a “Battle of the Books” quiz bowl competition brought to us by the Seattle Public Library.  A wide level of reading levels is represented so all students can participate in the challenge.

 Late February: Teams from Adams will compete against each other.  March: The winning team will then complete in a district wide semi-final.  The winner of that round goes to the City Final!

 All teams read the same ten books  Every book should be read by at least a couple of people on your team.  Pick a team captain to act as a spokesperson for the team.  Teams will need to meet with each other to discuss strategy, and make sure everyone is on track.

 Pick a librarian. This person is in charge of keeping track of the books and making sure everyone has equal access.  Decide who will be an “expert” on each book.

 Teams that have a plan and work together do the best in the challenge.  Once you decide to play, you are making a commitment to be on a team.  The Global Reading Challenge is fun! There are no big prizes involved, but Mr. Oswald will provide some small tokens of appreciation for your participation. The real rewards are reading great books, having fun with friends, and demonstrating your knowledge. And winning the whole thing!
