So what can we learn from Pictures?
Imagine Yourself in a Museum Gallery… Proper Museum Etiquette: 1. Be Quiet – whisper level. 2. Be respectful of others. 3. Walk in the gallery, be patient. 4. Use your time to observe, write, reflect. 5. Remain at the picture until I say “rotate.” YOUR TASK: Reflect on each image in the gallery. Write a caption for each image in your notes. Your caption should link the picture to African American History. *The pictures are abstract think critically/creatively

What’s the difference?
The 6 Phases of the Atlantic Slave Trade 1. Capture (travel time varied due to distance from coast) African on African violence to meet European demand – Both parties fueled by greed! 2. Imprisonment (1-4 months) Slavers constantly collecting slaves and imprisoning them until buyers arrive. Prisons managed by Africans, Europeans, and Afro-Europeans 3. Loading (4-6 months) 2-8 persons a day Loaded onto cargo ships via canoes. Cargo ships sailed along African coast to collect trade goods. Once their hulls were full they left.
