Cardiovascular System By: Patricia De La Rosa & Ana Luisa Freiburghaus

Main Organs  Heart: Provides force for flow of blood.  Blood: Composed of plasma and blood cells.  Blood Vessels: Pathways for blood.  Arteries  Capillaries  Veins

Main Functions  Transportation of nutrients, gases and waste products.  Help maintain a constant body temperature  Protection of the body from infection and blood loss.  To help maintain fluid balance within the body.

Interesting Facts  Big bodies have slower heart rates.  The heart needs not a body to beat.  Red blood cells are special.  In space, blood pools in your chest.  The heartbeat is produced by theclosing of the atrioventricular valves.

Cardiovascular Diseases  Coronary artery disease  Abnormal Heart Rhytms  Heart Failure  Heart valve disease  Congenital Heart Disease  Cardiomyopathies  Pericarditis  Aorta Disease  Vascular Diseases

Medical Trends Treatment of Atrial Septum Defect (ASD) Cardiac Catheterization

Acute Myocardial Infarction  Interventionist catheter
