PRESENT PERFECT It talks about an action completed at an indefinite time in the past but still has importance in the present : He has read the novel, so he knows the ending. PRESENT PERFECT PROGRESSIVE It talks about an action started in the past, still happening now and will continue into the future: He has been reading the novel, but he hasn’t finished yet.
