You will change/adjust it as you write.  Not all members of Puritan communities conformed entirely to the Puritan way, but all were terrified of the consequences that awaited if an individual identity was discovered; Arthur Miller’s The Crucible depicted the issues of Puritan conformity through John Proctor, Abigail Williams, and Giles Corey.
