C VOCABULARYSPELLINGCITY Amelia McHan

What is it? VocabularySpellingCity provides spelling, vocabulary, writing, and language arts activities for K-12. Great tool for teachers to create spelling lists and activities for practice. Students can practice their spelling and writing skills using different games and online activities.

How does it work? You will need to register for an account to access information. -Teacher accounts- create spelling lists and activities for students to access. -Parent accounts- can create accounts on their own if they want to practice with their child -Student accounts- allow them to access their assignments as soon as they log in You will also need a device such as an iPad, iPhone, Android, or a Chromebook. Potential Problems: - Lack of internet access. - You cannot access all of the activities with a free membership. - With a free membership, you can only add 25 students to the program. - iPad or other device malfunction.

Lesson Idea Lower Grade: Create a spelling list for the week. Use the different activities available for students to practice their spelling words. Ex: Missing Letter Upper Grade: Journaling Using the Writing section, assign students a topic to write about in a daily journal.

Why does it matter in teaching and learning? VocabularySpellingCity is a great tool for teachers to implement in the classroom. Students are very engaged in technology-centered activities. This is a great tool for assessment because the teacher is able to view the student score reports. Teacher-Parent Collaboration. Parents can implement it in their home for extra practice.
