Fiene Racing Jay Fiene #72 Early Racing Career

Fiene Racing started in 1985 with the Spectator Division. At the end of the season Jay Fiene was Spectator Champ found Jay in the winners circle and climbing to 8th in points. Capturing the Rookie of the Year the Late Model Division.

1987 was marked by numerous wins in Heats, Dashes and Features, and Fast Times. With the end of the season approaching there were only 7pts. dividing the top three. Jay took third in points and a special award for the best looking car.

1989 marks a new color scheme for the car and a TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP for Fiene Racing. By the middle of July Jay had moved into the points lead by a good 24 plus pts. Throughout the season Jay marked 9 fastest times, 2 dash wins and 4 feature wins. Great qualifying and driving finishes up the season on top of the points and Jay is Sycamore Speedway Track Champion in the Late Model division. He also received a special award for "Best Looking Car". A remarkable season for the 19 year old driver.

1990 season opened with Jay winning the feature. The year continued to be good with 3 feature wins, 3 dash wins, and 2 fastest qualifiers. Jay finished the season 5th in points and was awarded the best looking & maintained car.

1991 brought out a new paint scheme, purple was the color of choice this year. Jay had another good season with 2 features, fast times, heat wins. Jay stayed in the top 3 positions till July where he settled into 4th position and held there till the end of the season.

1992 came with a track change and a move up to a new class Limited Latemodels. The move up was a good one capturing 3 features, 4 dashes, and other top 3 finishes. Jay finished the season in 5th place, while receiving the Hard Charging Award and the Heat race award for having won the most heat races in his division continuing in the Limited Latemodel class Jay raced Friday nights at Kankakee Speedway and Saturday nights at Lasalle Speedway. Jay had a phenomenal season with 6 top three finishes, 1 dash win, 5 feature wins and 7 fastest qualifiers at Lasalle. At Kankakee Jay had 5 top 3 finishes, 1 dash win and 1 feature win.
