INDUSA Proposal Construction new classroom and open hall at Vigyan Ashram; 2000 sq. ft. in a two story building with ground and first floors (each 1000 sq. ft.). Existing room which VA uses as a classroom was old Poultry shed having an area of 630sq. feet. VA uses this room as a multipurpose room like classroom, hall for cultural events, etc. The existing structure is now beyond the repair and at depleting stage so needs reconstruction. As it was old poultry; the height of structure is much low and ventilation is not proper. In summer season when temperature rises up, we are unable (uncomfortable) to use the room. Due to low structural height, windows are inefficient to provide sunlight and fresh air. We are unable to fix our LCD projector permanently due to unavailability of proper space. We don’t have proper door and storage at current room, therefore always need to carry LCD projector from office when it requires. The room is not designed as classroom hence backbenchers could not see the presenter and presentation.
INDUSA Proposal We are unable to fix our LCD projector permanently due to unavailability of proper space. We don’t have proper door and storage at current room, therefore always need to carry LCD projector from office when it requires. The room is not designed as classroom hence backbenchers could not see the presenter and presentation. We celebrate different festivals and on these occasions students use different musical instruments like Dhol, drum, zanj, lezim, tabla, mrudang, and harmonium - pump organ, and many more. All these instruments are stored on the backside of the classroom. We do not have proper storage room for those. VA believes in ‘Learning while doing’ philosophy and organizes different training programs and workshops. So we need a hall to organize the program/workshops. Currently we need to move the benches from the classroom to get it converted into the hall. In order to overcome the problem we are proposing ground floor + 1 building. In the reconstructed building classroom will be at the ground floor and on first floor will be a hall plus some storage space for musical instruments (total 2000 sq ft.) At present, we also use the existing 630 sq. ft. classroom as a dormitory for people by removing benches outside.
INDUSA Proposal Existing classroom
INDUSA Proposal The costing is based on our experience of construction of kitchen. We will get the actual drawing from architect and then will make final costing. Like our entire previous project, we wish to involve our students in execution of project. Construction work will begin: 6 – 8 months from receipt of the funds. We estimate that approx. 60 students will benefit 2 hrs daily basis of the facility. It will be useful for number of workshops, cultural programs and common assembly of VA throughout the year. Approx. 200 students for 7 days in a year will use it as a dormitory facility.
