FACET Laser Transport Cost and Schedule Estimate R. Bergan 8/2012

Laser Transport Overview The start point is in the FACET laser room (still needs modification). The end point is directly below penetration The design will be based on the LCLS injector laser transport. The laser must be fully enclosed at all locations – except during alignment, when safety precautions will need to be followed.

Rough Dimensions These dimensions were gathered by tape measure inside and outside buildings without good references – therefore they are accurate to within +/-6 inches. The metrology group can provide more accurate numbers sometime in October. The end point in the tunnel is 60 inches below the ceiling (also 60 inches above the floor) The floor heights in the laser room and klystron gallery are assumed to be even.

Vacuum Pump The recommended vacuum pump is Agilent (Varian) TPS-Compact TV 301 Conflat 6 inch – : 120 V $11, – : 240 V $11, The lengths have been reviewed by the sales rep. and only one pump is required.

Major Layout Concerns There is a large cement wall in the klystron gallery that should be avoided. The height of the lowest point going across the Klystron gallery has to be greater than 9 feet. (height of status lights and cart doorways) The large ion pump above the penetration has to have forklift access for maintenance and/or repair.

Not covered in this estimate Cost for MFD dropping the drift tube into the penetration. Cost for MFD to complete the installation. Cost for reconfiguring the laser room. Cost for adding a hole from laser room to Klystron Gallery.

Penetration Support The existing TCAV support will be used to hold the tube down the penetration.
