Southeast Asia Environmental Initiative (SEA-EI) FY1998 The SEA-EI supported: better forest management techniques and policies improved fire prevention and fighting, and improved climate-impact forecasting and environmental monitoring US $ 5 million

EAPEI FY1999 Expanded geographically to include Pacific region Expanded sectorally to include: improved coastal resources management. Three broad goal areas: Improved Forestry and Land Use Management Improved Coastal Resources Management Improved Environmental Planning and Management US $ 4 million

EAPEI FY 2000 Review For each focus area: initial review by Management Committee identifying concerns and questions for technical reviewers; joint review by USAID/Indonesia and Embassy/Indonesia; technical review by USAID G/ENV forestry team, water team and urban team as appropriate; technical comments from the State Regional Environmental Hub based in Bangkok and separate presentations from the major domestic federal agencies (DOI, USDA/FS, NOAA and EPA).

EAPEI 2000 Selection Criteria Results-oriented Clear purpose Support by overseas country teams. Sound implementation plans. Commitment to (and record of) regular reporting. Field-generated emphasis. Linkages to existing FY98/99 EAPEI activities. Coordination with existing (and planned) USAID and other USG activity. Seed money linked with other donors
