Dinosaur Poster Project WebQuest Dinosaur Poster Project

Introduction I will be teaching the students how to conduct a presentation using a poster or tri-fold board to present a dinosaur of their choice The project incorporates craft work, with drawing, use of stickers etc. Creativity, use your imagination! Student is the expert on their dinosaur

The Task The student will learn how to make an organized poster and/or trifold board Using their research and information they have already gained about their dinosaur , the student will transfer this information to a form that they will be able to show and tell Must include title, headings, pictures, be creative and handwriting should be clear or typed, easy to read and see, visually appealing.

Task Continued… Presentation should include; The type of your dinosaur chosen, herbivore or carnivore, what they eat, what they look like (physical features), how big they were, if the dinosaur walked on 4 legs or 2 legs, what era the dino lived in, and fun facts, as well as a personal drawing of the dino incorporated.

Process Using this website: http://www.kidsdinos.com/ the children will research the information about their dino needed Draw picture of dinosaur. If needed children can go to the school library or public library to check out drawing books for extra help! Purchase a poster or tri-fold board, as well as any other supplies you might want to incorporate like sticker letters. I suggest Michael’s, Wal Mart, or any other craft store. Please don’t spend a lot of money!

Process Continued… Begin with the Title for example your title would most likely be the type of dinosaur, and the name if the student gives their dino species a name. Then include headings for each area of research-may be in question form. For example a heading might be: Is the T-Rex an herbivore or a carnivore? The student will use the method where they answer the question using the question or reinstating it. Do this for each area of research used on the poster or tri-fold. Be Creative and have fun!!

Conclusion Overall this project is an introduction to the world of presenting research and using visual aids along with a presentation, and being creative to have an audience engaged. We will also have a “dino fair” where the students will have an opportunity for a fun day to share what they have learned about dinosaurs and learn about their classmates. This fair will include trivia, games, activities, arts and crafts, and fun dinosaur inspired snacks!

Conclusion continued… After the project is completed the students will do a think pair share activity where they will be able to respond to how they felt about the project as a whole and what they liked and disliked about it, and we will create a write up on the white board of what we liked and disliked and what we could do to make the project better for future poster projects. For the next project like this I, as well as the students will be able to look back to see how they improved
