The Rainforest By: Michael Engelsen

Facts Rainforests once covered 14% of the Earth’s surface they now cover half of that area. Experts predict that within the next 40 years the rainforests could be completely gone. Experts also estimate that 137 plant and animal Species are being lost every day. That’s 50,000 species a year. Everything in the green is where the rainforest are.

Facts Continued 10 million species of plants, animals and insects live in the tropical rainforest. One-fifth of the world's fresh water is found in the Amazon Basin. This is a picture of South America. Look at how much room the Amazon Basin takes up.

Medicines Rainforests provide ¼ of today's medicines. 70% of the plants in the rainforest have anticancer properties. The Medicine Man only lives to be about 70. If he doesn’t teach the arts he learned thousands of years of knowledge will be lost Here are two pictures of what Medicine Men look like.

Conclusion To conclude this whole slide show I will end by saying “I can’t tell you how important it is that we save the rainforest.” I hope after seeing this slide show I convinced you to see how much destruction we have done. I just hope we change our ways before it is too late. Dun Dun Dun.
