Take a Walk in The Rainforest Ms. Lopez 1 st grade classroom

Essential Question I would like you to think about this question during our unit on the Rainforest How are we like plants and animals?

What we will doing in this Unit You will learn about the Rainforest and the about the different plant and animals live within the Rainforest. Students will complete several different activities over the next three weeks, and at the end of the unit will have a compete profile on the Rainforest, including a short powerpoint, art projects, and writing assignments.

What you will be doing for the next week Students will create a power point slide show. Students will have the opportunity to work on project during computer lab time With parents assists students will create four to five slides on two different plants and two different animals that are located in the Rainforest.

Sample Power Point I will show you a power point slide show of what should be included in your power point I will be sending home a letter to your parents about this project and where they can find the the sample power point on the classrooms web page. The next few slide is simple of two different plants and two different animals that are found in the Rainforest.

Plant and Animals that Live in the RainForest By: Ms. Lopez

What I choose : The plants I choose where the: Epiphytes Strangler Fig Tree The animals I choose where the: Macaw Sloth

Epiphytes They are air plants Grow everywhere, but can be found on branches, trucks, and leaves of trees. They begin their life in from seeds transported by birds or winds.

Strangler Fig Tree Strangler fig trees use another trees to climb up to the sunlight. As they grow they wrap around the old trees.

Macaw Macaws are the largest of all parrots There are sixteen different species of macawas. They have beautiful tails that are longer than their bodies.

Sloth The Sloths are extremely slow moving mammals found in the Rainforest. There hair is gray and brown. They are the size of a small dog.

Outline for Power Point Project Choose a background for your power point project. Please included three short facts about the two plants and animals that you choose Add a picture of each plant and animal Have four to five slides in your power point project. Have parent check work before turning in your project.
