Early Years  When Joe Louis Barrow was four years old his father died.  Joe Louis Barrow was the seventh out of eight children. Joe Louis was born May 13, 1914 IN Lexington, Alabama. Joe died April 12, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Joe Louis grew up on the south side of Chicago. Joe had a large family and he was close to his mother.  Joe wade 11 pounds at birth.

Middle Years  When Joe Louise's step father lost his job Joe and his brother got a job they ran errands, shined shoes and sold news papers before and after school. Joe also worked as an assistant ice wagon driver.  Joes step fathers last name was Brookes.  Joe Louis liked to box as a child. When Joe was 11 years old he started to boxes.
