Does social networking negatively affect relationships? By: Michael Williams Does social networking negatively affect relationships?

Research For teenagers and young adults, social networking can negatively affect relationships by causing anger, hatred, and violence. Certain social networks such as Facebook and Twitter cause people to slander each other and create emotional and physical aggression.

Research Recently Facebook announced that it has almost reached one billion users. A third of teenagers find that they are “addicted” to social networking such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Research Several cases of child molestation have occurred through social networks. This has caused certain states to place restrictions on who can use networks. Illinois passed a law in August 2009 banning sex offenders from social networks.

Link from research to product Since I researched the negative affects of social networking, I decided to teach a class on the effects of social networking and how to stay safe while using them.

Product Researched affects of social networking and recorded data. Developed a lesson plan in order to present to a class.

Product As a product I presented a power point to a class and handed out a survey for the students to complete. The class included students ages 13-19 at my local church (New Trinity Missionary Baptist Church)

Product I also taught my fourth block Construction class. I presented the same power point to them and also handed out a survey.

Mentor My mentors name Is Sharon Thompson She works at IBM She helped me make my PowerPoint for the class I taught. She also helped make my flyers and surveys.

Challenges and successes I had a lot of problems staying on track. If I did this project again I would stay on track and get everything done on time. In my project I learned that there are a lot of negatives to social networking, but there are also a lot of benefits.

What I Learned How to manage my time better That teaching is not for me because I don’t like talking in front of people.

Thank you for your time, do you have any questions?
