Welcome to Art in the Classroom 2011/2012 Program Objective Educate the students at Otter Lake about the basic art concepts of line, shape, texture and color. Bring these concepts to life through: -Class discussion about past and present artists who emphasize these concepts in their work -Creative projects that demonstrate these concepts, yet allow for individual, student expression

Organization Classroom Coordinators: -Schedule art classes for the year based on your teacher’s availability -Review Lesson Plan online and samples in the Art Room -Room set-up -Lead project discussion and assist students -Primary contact for Grade Level Contacts -Clean-up Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/month

Coordinators: How to Set Up a Class 1.Master Calendar - on the wall, online in the future 2.Contact your child’s teacher to determine a date and time for class each month (e.g., second 10:00) 3.Document this on Master Calendar, allowing for set- up and clean-up time. Note location of class. 4.Class may be held in the Art Room or Classroom depending on project and availability of Art Room
The Lessons Lesson plans and supporting documents will be posted on the AITC website Volunteer Cupboard: -Combination to lock found in kiln room, next to light switch -Hard copies of lessons and supporting documents found in file folders, organized by teacher -All project materials in Volunteer Cupboard unless otherwise noted -Project samples -Please leave Volunteer Cupboard as you find it, put materials away, etc. -If you find that supplies are running low, please get in touch with your Grade Level Contact
Teaching a Lesson 1.Have FUN! 2.Read your materials prior to class 3.Docs posted on website now – hard copies of lessons will be available on or about the 1 st of each month 4.Discuss: -Concept – use supporting information provided -Be Creative!! The Kiln DON’T BE INTIMIDATED! Training will be provided Schedule a 20-minute training session for your grade with Sarah Solberg or Aimee Kueppers PRIOR to your first firing Training must be taken for everyone using the kiln
