(1) Before we heard the weather forecast

(2) When the thunder roared in the distance

(3) As the temperature fell rapidly

(4) Because the rain was freezing as soon as it hit the ground,

(5) While the freezing rain turned rapidly into an onslaught of blowing snow

(6) Since the wind has started to howl

(7) Even though the weather channel had predicted the storm of the century

(8) Until the salt trucks can get out of the garage

(9) After sleet became part of the wintry mix

(10) Although the forecast had included the possibility of hail

(11) While the patches of black ice were invisible even to careful drivers

(12) If the icicles hanging from the power lines don’t fall soon
