CASE STUDIES

LEARNING EACH CASES STUDY IS ESSENTIAL…..

LEARNING EACH CASE STUDY IS ESSENTIAL…..

Getting the most out of revision Case study questions are worth the most amount of marks: Foundation = 6 marks Higher = 8 marks

Without a case study, they can only get max 4/6 (Foundation) or 4/8 (Higher) No need to learn everything but know FACTS. Use the term ‘This means that….’ A useful reminder when revising is to ask ‘SO WHAT?’ after they have told you a fact. E.g. In Kobe, Japan they built new buildings far apart from each other SO THAT…..there won’t be a domino effect if one building falls down in the next earthquake. CASE STUDIES ARE ESSENTIAL

What to learn? At least one fact from each section. Make the link (e.g people died because of buildings collapsing on them).

ROWS RATHER THAN COLUMNS….

Examination Papers The examination papers have questions on 6 topics (physical) and 7 topics (human). Pupils must only answer questions on 3 TOPICS. Each topic has 25 marks attached to it (physical) 28 marks (human). 3 marks per topic are awarded for SPaG (Spelling and Grammar).

Other resources available: Powerpoints for each exam that can be downloaded onto pupil phones. Gives an overview of each topic. A list of previous exam questions for the physical and the human exam.

Help is at hand…. AQA Specification A Past Papers: g.uk/exams- administration/exa ms-guidance/find- past-papers-and- mark-schemes

TEACHER SUPPORT….. C6 on a Tuesday and Thursday (3:20 onwards) Controlled assessment support Homework support
