Learning Intention & Success Criteria Learning Intention [L.I] – Is the lesson title and tells you what the lesson is going to be about. The success criteria help to show how much understanding you have of the learning intention You will need to copy the learning intention (i.e. the lesson title) every lesson along with putting the date & CL (class learning) in the margin. You should copy the success criteria symbols underneath the title and RAG them to show your confidence at the start of the lesson At the end of each lesson you will RAG them again to show how your confidence has changed during the lesson.

SOLO Success Criteria The success criteria are a roadmap for your learning They show you what you should be able to do to reach higher levels of understanding in a lesson (levels of challenge). There are 5 levels of challenge and each is represented by a symbol At the first level you do not have any understanding of the lesson or topic BUILDING - when you know one idea/fact about the lesson or topic Being able to name, state, identify, match, label DEVELOPING – when you know several relevant ideas/facts about the lesson or topic. Being able to describe, list, outline, retell SECURING – when you are able to link your relevant ideas or facts together. Being able to explain, sequence, compare & contrast MASTERING – when you can use the links in a new situation or to create something new. Being able to predict, evaluate, suggest, justify You are trying to move your learning on by increasing the level at which you understand a topic by the end of the lesson
