Presentation transcript:

 When the refugees come to America, they don’t realize all the hard work that comes with living in this country. They may think it will come easy just because of what they have seen on television. Little do they know they will have a lot to learn.

 Getting volunteers  Teaching the refugees the complete opposite of what they’re use to  Finding a place to hold the camp  Collecting information to teach  Language/Communication

 Create a safe, fun, learning environment that will make the refugees feel comfortable about their move to America.

 There will be 4 volunteer groups  1. Teaching American Sports  2. Teaching Language/Communication Skills  3. Teaching good health  4. Teaching about American Food

 Basketball  Football  Baseball  Soccer

 We can have different bilingual clubs and people involved with teaching the refugees English  Students who have minored or majored in a different language

 Public Heath Majors involved with teaching the refugees good health and hygiene

 Have all volunteers of the camp to bring a home made dish of a healthy meal, and have them explain the benefits of eating healthy and not a lot of fast food.

 Put out flyers and ads  Have teachers assign volunteer work to students for extra credit  Get Greek Life involved  Talk to YMCA and community churches about hosting the camp in their facilities  Get college sport teams to participate and make it fun for the refugees

 UNCC students/teachers  Community Churches  Local YMCA

 The refugees will need a stable and safe environment to stay  Somewhere where they can learn as much as possible  Have people with patience that will help them  Keeping them interested and willing to try new things

 It will help the refugees get accustomed to America and it will start them off with the basics instead of just throwing them out in the streets with no help  They will be wiser  They will feel more comfortable with communicating with other Americans  They will be healthier, mentally and physically

 Will the refugees participate?  Will we get all the volunteers we need?  Will we be able to find a place to hold the camp?  Where will we put all the flyers at?
