Presentation transcript:

In my unit plan I will introduce an author of the week. For this week my class will be studying Beatrix Potter. I will use a PowerPoint presentation to give the class some background information about Beatrix Potter. Therefore emphasizing on her various techniques and themes she created for each individual short story. Everyday we will introduce a new story. Each day we will have a new theme to incorporate in our daily lesson to match our current unit. I will feature The Tale of Benjamin Bunny in the lesson that I will discuss today. The conclusion to my lesson will result in building on existing knowledge, opening new ideas, and using various technologies.

Materials needed:Tasks: Milk jugs (tops cut off) Potting soil Small planting shovel Small garden stake Planting labels Water Assorted seeds Writing utensil Internet account Sun- light For the lesson each student will need an existing account. I will send out a mass internet to each individual student from Mr. McGregor. In the Mr. McGregor will explain to each student that he needs help with planting his garden and would like some help from our first grade class.

The student will start the process of planting their own plants in our classroom garden. Once we have planted our individual gardens we will begin to record our growth process. Each day the students will draw the different stages the plants grow into. Once we are successful gardeners we will Mr. McGregor and inform him of our success and the steps we took in this process to help him with his own gardening experience. I will instruct on how to: 1. Apply the soil 2. Position the seed in the soil 3. Water the seed 4. Give direct or indirect sunlight 5. Placement of plant label
