9/22/10 - Please hand in or collect your binders BR- 1. How is a monarchy different from a dictatorship? 2. How is a republic different from a total democracy.

 Lets talk about the quiz – Corrections? Economic Systems  Communism – community, no private property, everything is owned by everybody. (You hand over your property ‘sovereignty’ for the betterment of all. ‘There is not I in Communism’ (well..actually)  Capitalism – Free Market, If you can make money, do it. If you are broke and hungry don’t come crying to  Socialism – We want some private property but we’re afraid that big bad business we take over and enslave us (or see us dirty food) To Do..

Exit Slip – Watch the video. Unbridled democracy can be dangerous. Some of the worst atrocities in human history have happened because ‘the people’ voted for it.  From the video, what is meant by a “cycle of freedom?”  Interpret: “Freedom is like a garden, it must be maintained and watched lest it become choked with the weeds of oppression or taken by the forces of tyranny.”  Ponder: How can Democracy be kept from getting out of control?
