Recent History June 2009: Redistricting closed Tower Street; reassigned students at Springbrook, State Street, Bradford and Dunn’s Corners ; Grade 5 moves to Westerly Middle School Sept DCS began as a school with 30-40% of each grade new to the school and 60-70% returning Oct DCS administered NECAP Reading and Mathematics to Grades 3-4 Jan NECAP Results Released

Grade Level Distinctions The Grade 3 Test measures Grade 2 End- of-year Expectations (GLE) The Grade 4 Test measures Grade 3 End- of-year Expectations (GLE)

Teaching vs. Testing Year Measured Progress releases scores by: Teaching Year (students at DCS in and earlier) Testing Year (students at DCS in ) This report is a review of Testing Year only.

Achievement Level Descriptions Proficient With Distinction (Level 4) Students demonstrate prerequisite knowledge and skills needed to participate and excel in instructional activities aligned with the GLE at the current grade level. Errors made by these students are few and minor and do not reflect gaps in prerequisite knowledge and skills.

Achievement Level Descriptions Proficient (Level 3) Students demonstrate minor gaps in prerequisite knowledge and skills needed to participate and perform successfully in instructional activities aligned with the GLE at the current grade level. It is likely that any gaps in prerequisite knowledge and skills demonstrated by these students can be addressed during the course of typical classroom instruction.

Achievement Level Descriptions Partially Proficient (Level 2) Students demonstrate gaps in prerequisite knowledge and skills needed to participate and perform successfully in instructional activities aligned with the GLE at the current grade level. Additional instructional support may be necessary for these students to meet grade level expectations.

Achievement Level Descriptions Substantially Below Proficient (Level 1) Students demonstrate extensive and significant gaps in prerequisite knowledge and skills needed to participate and perform successfully in instructional activities aligned with the GLE at the current grade level. Additional instructional support is necessary for these students to meet grade level expectations.
