13 Patriotic Poems About America Mr. Thorngren’s 8 th Graders,

Some Samples of Student Work Recently, we studied the War of 1812, and the background of “The Star-Spangled Banner”. Students had the opportunity to create their own 8 line poem about their feelings toward the flag or their country. There were many awesome poems written, but here are 13 of my favorite…

Author - Raigna Paulson Our flag stands for freedom And we are so very proud When it waves in the breeze It usually draws a crowd Its colors are so beautiful The red, white, and blue And when you see them up close They are so very true

Author – Corben Farr I love my country, yes I do I love my country, how about you And every day I’m proud to say I love this country all the way Another thing I like about this country Is that I’m free and I can drink tea I love this country so much Now that I’m done, I’m gonna eat lunch

Author – Abbey Bell America, America, the land of the free They will see we fight for thee The eagle stands tall Beacon of liberty for all We fight for rights that are true They fight for me and you We’ll stand together forever Will we split apart? Never!

Author – Aspen Hegstrom In the land of the free We never fall to our knee For this our home Our ancestors fought on the sea Taxation without representation on the tea Hand in hand we took a stand For now they see They need to let us be

Author – Preston Fairchild I love to live in America and these are the reason why I love sitting on my porch watching the cars cruise by I love the smell of a home cooked meal While seeing someone win millions on “Deal or No Deal” I love the freedom we have to fly And the feeling I’ll get when I’m high in the sky I love the opportunity I will have to vote And that my friend, was all he wrote

Author – Jaycie Price Home of the brave, land of the free Who could be more lucky than me I have it all, and I can choose Who shall win, and who shall lose We have this freedom, we got to take To honor, to serve, for goodness sake Many have died, so we might live, So let’s stay strong and together give

Author – Alexa Henrie Be grateful you live here For hunger and evil is near We have the blessing to be free We can choose the way we want to be From teachers, to doctors, to lawyers, and much more There are many areas that you can explore You should love this country as much as I do And learn more about our history too

Author – Kylar Watkins America is so beautiful It’s also a loving place America has the most beauty and love Because it’s mixed with every race America is so beautiful America the great America suits us all America I cannot hate

Author – Spencer Zavala Today, I don’t have to speak German and live under the Third Reich Thank you America Today, I don’t have to speak Russian, and live under a communist flag Thank you America Today, I can choose to worship God Thank you America Today, I can speak out if our leaders get too crazy Thank you America Today, I’m getting an education where I put these words to paper Thank you America

Author – Haley Shivers America, so beautiful Where the soldiers are dutiful By the dawn’s early light Our country shines so bright Red, white, and blue We will find our way through We will do what’s right Even if there is a fight

Author – Abby Lira We will always stand tall Never let ourselves fall We will always shine bright Every day and every night We will fight to our deaths Then forever we rest We will always be free Oh how I love my country

Author – Leah Warren The land of the free The home of the brave Oh long may our stars and stripes Long may they wave God bless America Land that I love And long may our flag Wave up above

Author – Kristen Jacobson As we stand here, strong and true We think of what soldiers did for me and you Back then they didn’t know How much their work would show Now we are free How prideful we must be We love our country with all our heart We could never be torn apart
