Philosophy of Design  Design – The purpose, planning, or intention that exists behind an action, fact or material object.  The best designs often solves a functional problem in the most simplistic of fashions.  Consider the umbrella, a design that has lasted years of change but remains uniform.

Web Design  Web design merges the need for aesthetic beauty with optimal user functionality/experience (UX).  Minimalist design sites such as Google follows the philosophy of “Focus on the user and all else will follow.” Demonstration of the use of motion

Articles  Don’t Bore Your Visitors and Keep Them Thinking  Navigation  Don’t Make Them Wait  Find Out What Colors Will Cause Your Visitors to Hate You

Plain, minimalist, mysterious. A demonstration of simplicity not equating small content. Don’t Bore Your Visitors

Keep Them Thinking  Humans have a tendency to group objects, to easily manage thoughts.  There are 10 test tubes, but humans tend to group them into two groups of 5.

7Designers  Unique animations play while loading the site.  To reinforce functionality, animations shouldn’t play too long.

Good From The Great Good websites have text that is easy to read and straightforward navigation. Interest and UX must be married in order to become pleasing and legible.

Giving great navigation allows users to better explore the site Navigation

Great UX  Navigation is a crucial element in the UX.  Lets the user know which part of the webpage they are on after using hyperlinks.  Eliminates any feelings of being lost.  The logo of the company or site should be at the top of every webpage, linking back to home.

Hammering the Fact  Well executed navigation saves time on behalf of the end user.  Increases platform compatibility.

Navigational Uniformity  Websites generally use blue or red for links that have already been visited.  Those that don’t follow this unnecessarily confound the UX.  Also sites that have no logo on the top can also frustrate users who are used to such conveniences.

Waiting is overrated. Don’t Make Them Wait

Lowering the Bulk  Article suggested utilizing the 28.8kbps connection rule, with specifications lower than 50k.  Make graphic images smaller.  Limit the amount of colors displayed.  Use more solid colors.

Good Vs Bad Salted Herring  Long time to load.  Packed with images.  Messy design and color scheme.  Hybrid Works  Short load time.  Minor sound and animations.  No need for scrolling.  Simple Design.

Colors not only draw attention, they provide tools of distraction and significance. Colors

 Plays a major role in captivating attention.  Can influence mood, feelings and emotions.
