Page 3 Introduction to Harvest LIS Order Patient Samples Order Patient Samples can be used to Place new orders that will be processed immediately Place new orders that will be deferred for future use Process orders that were previously placed but not yet Activated Attach new orders to orders that were already processed

Page 4 Place new orders that will be processed immediately

Page 5 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Harvest is launched by double clicking the Harvest Icon on the Workstation’s Windows Desktop.

Page 6 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Each Harvest LIS user has their own username and password.

Page 7 Place new orders that will be processed immediately You can see what user is signed into Harvest in two places.

Page 8 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Once signed into Harvest, you may click on [Laboratory] found along the top of the application, and then choose Order Patient Samples,

Page 9 Place new orders that will be processed immediately or you may choose to click the Work Center Icon

Page 10 Place new orders that will be processed immediately opens the window called Order Patient Samples.

Page 11 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Enter at least a portion of the patient’s name or Patient ID Number and then hit the TAB key.

Page 12 Place new orders that will be processed immediately You will be given a list of all patients that match the current search criteria. You may need to scroll down to find the patient you are searching for.

Page 13 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Double click the line indicating the correct patient, or highlight the line and then choose [Accept] at the bottom.

Page 14 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Once you have selected the Patient whose Order you would like to focus on, Harvest can display a summary of Stored and Recent Orders.

Page 15 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Click on [New Order].

Page 16 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Harvest will return you to the Order Patient Samples window which will be populated by the details available for that Patient.

Page 17 Place new orders that will be processed immediately The upper left hand corner of the Order Patient Samples window includes a basic description of Patient Demographics.

Page 18 Place new orders that will be processed immediately The upper right hand corner of Order Patient Samples will include Sample Collection and Ordering Provider information.

Page 19 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Harvest is deployed for each customer in slightly different ways. The Tabs across the middle of the Order Patient Samples Screen may appear different in your LIS. These Tabs are used to organize the possible Order Choices for your facility.

Page 20 Place new orders that will be processed immediately The bottom of the window will show the predicted collection time and date which should be edited as needed.

Page 21 Place new orders that will be processed immediately The center of the Order Patient Samples window can display a summary of each chosen order, the priority for the completion of those tests, diagnosis codes that apply to that choice, and testing location description.

Page 22 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Diagnosis Codes can be entered and then screened by Harvest to verify the probable coverage of an insurance carrier. Failed codes will appear in RED.

Page 23 Place new orders that will be processed immediately When diagnosis code screening FAILS, it would be best if other choices for the order could be made or if more diagnosis codes could be included with the order.

Page 24 Place new orders that will be processed immediately If you do not know the numeric code, you may begin searching by typing in a word to describe another reason for testing. After you enter that word, click TAB.

Page 25 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Harvest will then list possible matches that pertain to the search criteria you typed. You may select one of those by double clicking that line.

Page 26 Place new orders that will be processed immediately Now this order has sufficient diagnosis coding that will probably be covered by the patient’s health insurance plan coverage.

Page 27 Place new orders that will be processed immediately When you are done entering details for the order, Click Save Order in the bottom right corner.

Page 28 Place new orders that will be processed immediately After you Save Order, Patient Labels will print and sample collection can be performed.

Page 29 Place new orders that will be processed immediately There will be times when there is a medical need to proceed with testing that is probably not going to be covered by the insurance plan. A signature on an Advanced Beneficiary Notice is then solicited from the patient. This creates documentation that the patient understood the situation.

Page 30 Place new orders that will be processed immediately First, print the ABN by clicking PRINT ABN.

Page 31 Place new orders that will be processed immediately After the ABN has been printed, the patient is asked to sign the document. After the signature is gained, change the ABN Status drop down menu to the appropriate response.

Page 32 Place new orders that will be processed immediately You do have another chance to recheck the order should you need to. You would do this instead of soliciting the Patient’s signature on the ABN form.
