General History Dartmouth is an ivy league school founded in The founder of the school was named Reverend Eleazer Wheelock. Established to educate native Americans In 1972 the college became coeducational. Nearly 1,000 Native American alumni. Governor Wentworth provided the land the university was built on. Their colors are green and white and their formal mascot is The Big Green. But the students have created their own mascot called Keggy the Keg
