12 Positions Paper You are required to produce a ‘Positions Paper’ that identifies the pros and cons of media globalisation The following issues should be addressed in your paper:  What is media globalisation and how does it relate to globalisation?  What are the key cultural, political and economic implications of media globalisation?  Are audiences or media users better served with globalisation?  Are there winners and/or losers in the era of media globalisation? If so, identify them (organisations, individuals or groups).  Include other pertinent issues that you consider relevant to this debate.

13 Critical Essay You are required to embark on a critical analysis of a ‘global media organization’ of your choice. You should address the following key points:  Explain how and why is your chosen organization a ‘global media organization’?  Provide a referenced summary of the organization’s corporate structure and ownership status (i.e. who owns it and what does it own).  How does this organization contribute to or impact upon global media cultures? Or does it?  How does this organization contribute to or impact upon national media policies and cultures? Or does it?

14 Policy Details As Mass Communication students you are expected to:  read newspapers, magazines, etc;  watch TV news and current affairs;  listen to radio news;  access the Internet.

15 Policy Details Inform the lecturer for any kind of difficulty that hinders your study. If sick or due to some circumstances beyond your control, inform the lecturer. If you require an extension, request at least a week before the deadline backed up with certifiable document. Late work gets 10% deduction per day (including weekends) until a week after.

16 Policy Details All assessments will be moderated by the Coordinator. YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL ASSIGNMENTS IN ORDER TO PASS THE UNIT. Student who misses a substantial portion of the unit will be deemed to have not satisfactorily completed the unit.

17 Assignments are submitted on or before the deadline unless permitted to be late. It must have the filled-out Murdoch Cover Sheet It must be handed PERSONALLY to ME for chopping. Also note once again that marks will be deducted for incoherent and ungrammatical writing as well as poor/incorrect referencing.
