Lesson 8: Homeostasis Conclusion DO NOW: (5 minutes) 1.Go to your lab tables and together define the following words on your whiteboards Homeo- Stasis- HOMEWORK: 1. Make sure ALL homeostasis lab questions are answered and you have a graph. 2. Review vocabulary and lab for a quiz on Thursday CLASS ACTIVITIES: 1.Complete Conclusion questions 2.Answer questions on white boards 3.Short presentations on results 4.Closure ENRICHMENT: Reread notes on page 16-22 Quiz a partner on vocab on these pages Write ten possible lab quiz questions Latin Root Word Activity
2
Latin Root Words Homeo- Alike or similar Stasis- At a standstill, not changed
3

4
Class Playlist 1.Answer the following questions on your whiteboard: Experimental Question Independent Variable Dependent Variable What did the results show? How does this relate to homeostasis? 2.Complete post lab analysis questions 3.Present data to class using whiteboards
5
Three Types of Experimental Error 1.Not enough data 2.Not accurate equipment 3.Unintended variables ***Don’t just write “student error!”*** Choose one of these categories and describe your experimental errors
6
Closure Give one example of each type of experimental error
7
Closure Give one example of each type of experimental error Possible answer: – Not enough data (only one data point for exercise and one data point for resting) – Not accurate equipment (inaccurate heart rate measurements) – Unintended variables (change in temperature in the room)
