1 March 20064th PAC07 LOC meeting9 Conference bags Stan’s comment “Do we really want to give out bags? We could use some of those funds to hand out a better smart card. Don't get too fancy with the bag -- most people trash them after the meeting unless it is a versatile simple bag. We can't afford backpacks, but we could have a simple underarm portfolio or zippered envelope folio.” Check on simple ones from the past conferences.

1 March 20064th PAC07 LOC meeting11 EPAC06 conference bag choice John Thomason, EPAC06 LOC Chair There is a sponsor that pays all the cost of bags!! They hope to have their decision on this conference bag agreed with the sponsor company (e2v) very soon and receive a sample printed with the appropriate logos. Is it possible to get a sponsor on this? If we can get one, we would rather choose a little fancy one like this?

1 March 20064th PAC07 LOC meeting12 Industrial Exhibition: vendor email Stan’s comment –They need to use the conference letter template for this message. –Need to say something about all coffee breaks will be in this area. –In the paragraph that starts "On-line registration---" we should add something like "and details for this process will be listed in a notice that will be sent prior to this time" Comments from Alan Todd, Advanced Energy Systems, OC member as an industry rep. –Not more than 3 days, i.e., Mon.-Wed. –He agrees with all Stan’s comments. –He says OK about the email drafts including these.

Once we have established a point of contact at Sandia Lab, and have identified the areas to be toured. I can work together with the person at Sandia to see if any we can do a group clearance type of thing.”

1 March 20064th PAC07 LOC meeting15 Physics (Science) Teacher’s Day event Stan sent an email on 31 January 2006 to Linda Spentzouris of Illinois Institute of Technology, the current chair of Education committee of the APS-DPB since the Teacher’s day event at PAC05 sponsored by APS-DPB was very successful. Stan suggested that she contact Tsuyoshi, but she has not got in touch with Tsuyoshi yet. Has Bob contacted with Community Relations on this?

1 March 20064th PAC07 LOC meeting16 Conference theme?? Stan’s comments “If you want to determine a theme for the conference, then you need to be very careful that it fits well with the entire community and cultural/ethnic differences. We need to look at what is happening in 2007 and see what fits overall. Is there a special scientific focus, NM focus, science training focus, or some world focus such as energy or environment -- are a few things you should be considering. Someone needs to tap into the web and to policy makers/movers/shakers to see what is being high lighted.” Are we brave enough to create a theme like PAC05, which was a special year for Physics. If we create one, the following PACs will feel pressure to create one. Is it a good thing?
