Stonesfield Primary School Eco-Council are… Young Foresters! Approved by the national charity:
2
What have we been doing? First we identified all the trees on our playing fields. Jen and Paul from the Sylva Foundation helped us. Paul is a Forester and his job is identifying trees, planting new trees and using the wood from the trees. Foresters also plant trees for wildlife.
3
We want to create a new quiet area here! The old quiet area is now a Forest School site. We want to create a new quiet area called the ‘Enchanted Garden’! We chose a corner of the playing field next to the playing field. We drew sketch maps.
4
We did sketch maps of our ideas for the quiet area.. We want to make a new hedge to climb through! We would like to plant more fruit trees! We think everyone would like seats and a willow shelter to provide quiet places and a buddy bench We want to increase places for wildlife to live.
5
Little OneOak! Remember the story of the OneOak tree that our school was involved in? Some of the acorns were planted from the big OneOak We have a 4 year old Little OneOak to plan in our new quiet area!
6
We measured the new quiet area We did an estimate of the area by counting our steps We did an accurate measurement of the area using a tape measure We need to know measurement sto work out how many trees we can plant.
7
Here is our final plan! We put all our ideas onto a big map and discussed which ones we would choose for the final plan. We would still like your ideas and comments!
8
Lots of people are helping us! Blenheim Foresters will help plant the trees and new hedge, make a bench and bring us wood! WonderWood are building us a willow shelter for free! Nicholsons are giving us trees and hedges at reduced price!
9
