5 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum Components include: 1.Advisory Period 2.Culminating Senior Projects 3.Student Led Conferences 4.Traditional Conferences 5.Portfolios 6.SSR, literacy, and progress monitoring 7.MBI program 8.Club Program

6 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum Advisory Mentoring Developing a sense of community Life and occupational skills RtI/MBI SSR/Literary skills

7 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum Senior Projects Students have a service component to their HS experience. Project tied to their interests and abilities. Set schedule for completion of project Community/school evaluation of presentations. Student will need to complete project to graduate. Projects will begin with the class of 2014.

8 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum Student Led Conferences Students use portfolio components to showcase their accomplishments in school. Students/Teacher schedule conferences so that parents can attend and participate. Conference is held with the advisory instructor. Students facilitate the conference and explain in detail their sections of the portfolio.

9 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum Traditional Parent Teacher Conferences PTC will still be held in the fall. Following the standard schedule.

10 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum Portfolios Creation/Culmination of student accomplishments at SHS. Designed to keep students organized and focused throughout their tenure at SHS. Showcases students academic, co- and extra curricular activities, community experiences, and other interest students may have outside of the school environment.

11 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum SSR, literacy, and progress monitoring All HS students will be reading for 10 minutes a day during advisory. Goals are to increase reading comprehension, fluency, and decoding skills. Literacy skills will be worked into the progress monitoring portion of SSR monthly.

12 Assessment of Advisory Program Gatekeeper Courses – Navigation 101 curriculum and teacher evaluation systems. Student (CRT) test scores. Graduation Rate vs. Drop Out Rate Post-Graduation Surveys All data will be shared with students, advisors, parents, community members, school boards, local media, and legislators.

13 Utilization of Navigation 101 Curriculum MBI Program Teachers will teach MBI cool tools with in the advisory program quarterly.
