Examination, Installation and Use of Equipment Electrical equipment shall be free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees.

u Receptacles must provide a connection for an equipment grounding conductor. Unless supplied by a metallic raceway that provides a continuous grounding path.

u All boxes and fittings shall be provided with covers. –metal covers shall be grounded.

u Boxes shall provide a complete enclosure for the contained conductors or cables.

Enclosures for Damp or Wet Locations u In wet locations, enclosures (boxes, cabinets, etc.) shall be weatherproof.

u Lamps for general illumination shall be protected from accidental contact or breakage. –7’ from the normal working surface –lamp holder guard.

Flexible Cords & Cables u One of the most frequently violated electrical standards. u Flexible cords and cables shall be approved and suitable for conditions, use and location.

Flexible cords and cables shall be protected from accidental damage. sharp corners and projections shall be avoided. protection will be provided at pinch points such as doorways, etc.

Housekeeping Duties Use non conductive cleaning materials

Interlocks v Should only be temporarily defeated by a qualified person while working on the equipment, and then restored.

Alerting Techniques Safety signs, tags, & barricades Attendants.
