6/21/2006RET Summer 2006 Project Objectives At the University- Engaging Middle and high school science and mathematics teachers in engineering research at the university level. At the Schools- Assisting teachers with integrating their research experiences into inquiry-based curricula.

6/21/2006RET Summer 2006 Project Calendar Five week program –Orientation in Norman on June 21 st – Teacher research findings presentations in Tulsa on July 26 th. – No Meeting on July 3 rd and 4 th. Engineering research activities Action Research – 9:00am-4pm every day except when classes of Action Research, Inquiry in the Classroom, and Lesson Planning are taught. Action Research –June 22 nd - June 30 th and July 5 th -6 th Lesson Planning –July 19 th - 25 th Inquiry in the Classroom –July 14 th

6/21/2006RET Summer 2006 Teacher Support Stipends – A total of $3200/teacher/year Travel and lodging for teachers – to OU during summer research program – to national and regional conferences Materials and Supplies – Compete on a total of $12,000 for laboratory research towards the development, implementation, and dissemination of research based activities in the classrooms by teachers. OU parking

6/21/2006RET Summer 2006 Teacher Commitment Complete the five week summer program. Integrate their OU-RET research experiences at their schools. Travel to schools and conferences to promote the integration of their OU-RET activities into K-12 STEM education.
