4  Previously certified as EMT-B(Emergency Medical Technician)  Paramedic School takes up to 2 years. Most are college classes with associate degrees.  Paramedics are required to have 72 hours of continuing education per year  Have a continuing CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation and ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) certifications

5  You should be compassionate because you are finding and helping people in an emergency  You should be physically fit. Paramedics move patients and kneel down all the time.  You should not be shy. Talking is a very important part of figuring out what's wrong with a patient  Good with critical thinking  Ability to stay calm in different situations  Manage good people skills
