Pollen Pollen is the “sperm” for plants It’s in thick-coated grains that allow it to live in diverse land habitats With the help from wind, weather, and animals such as the bumble bee the pollen can travel for miles.

Adaptations Trees have thick bark to protect themselves from cold winters. Epiphytes such as mosses and ferns grow atop other plants to reach light. Some plants are dark in color to absorb heat and they may grow in clumps to protect against the winters.

Complex or Simple? Complex, because the plants are all multicellular and they consist of complex cells. There are over 250,000 species of plants, making the plant kingdom the second largest kingdom.

Facts With the help of fungi and protists, plants provide the food we eat (whether directly or indirectly) and the oxygen we breath. Plants are classified into 12 “phyla”/ divisions.
