A review of the National Curriculum was undertaken Tim Oates – Group Director of Assessment Research and Development at Cambridge Assessment Assessment Focus – understanding key concepts Effort and presentation Key Concepts, Key ideas and skill Removed from Sept 2014 – legal requirement

Our system – our story No one way Investigated a number of approaches Developed our own assessment processes and procedures Shift in ideas about ability/assessment in practice (Tim Oates) Informs future teaching and learning Identifies gaps in learning – to ensure Mastery and Depth

What will it look like…… Progression chart Vocabulary- the 5 E’s At National Standard – by year end Teaching to the top – end of year expectation, not most able children All exposed Raised expectation – far more challenging Mastery/Depth – not acceleration SAT’s will still happen – first tests based on new National Curriculum will take place May 2016

How will you know? Expectation that parents should be informed about how well their child is doing (in relation to Year end expectation) Parents need to know what these expectations are – the curriculum content, key concepts and skills You will receive – Parents evenings, interim reports, final end of year report No Levels – progress measured from your child’s starting point (five E’s)
