Define and describe physical weathering, chemical weathering, erosion, and deposition Analyze the effects of physical and chemical weathering on Earth’s surface. Level 4 Compare and contrast sub-surface and surface events related to the creation of landforms and rock types. Level 3 Describe and give examples of ways in which Earth’s surface is built up and torn down by physical and chemical weathering, erosion, and deposition AND recognize that there are a variety of different landforms on Earth’s surface Level 2 List landforms that have been produced by physical and chemical weathering, erosion, and deposition. Level 1 With help, I can name surface features that are produced by weathering, erosion, and deposition

Foldable – Through – page 7 Open your FUSION book to page 424. Fold paper to make 2 doors (and eventually 4) Label the front as shown below: Use your textbook pages 424-429 Physical Weathering Chemical Weathering Erosion Deposition Rock is broken into smaller pieces by Physical changes Breakdown of rocks by chemical reactions. Sediment (rock pieces) are moved from one place to another. Eroded material is dropped off or deposited.

Inside of the Foldable – p. 7 Use the RED subtitles to describe agents (causes) and examples. Include at least 1 drawing. SEE EXAMPLE BELOW: Physical Weathering Agents temperature change, pressure change, trees, animals, Water, wind, gravity Examples: ice wedging, exfoliation Chemical Weathering Agents ACID!! reactions with Oxygen Examples: Erosion Agents fast moving water in rivers and waves, strong winds, glaciers (slow ice rivers)! Examples: Carving canyons, valleys, and caves, and sinkholes!!! Grand Canyon Deposition Agents GRAVITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Examples: Use pages 432-455 Use pages 424-429
