How does it make you feel to know that there is so much out there that you do not know or understand? How should we respond to the fact that God knows everything there is to know; there is nothing He does not know and understand?

Job wondered why he suffered, but God did not tell him. In today’s study we will see that we can trust God to know and do what is best, even when we don’t understand what He is doing.

Beyond Comprehension Job 38:1–39:30 family theme: God of Wonders family theme: God of Wonders

We Can Do Nothing Compared to God’s Unlimited Power Job 38:4-21

God made it clear to Job that He alone created the universe and everything in it.

We Can Do Nothing Compared to God’s Unlimited Power God had reminded Job of His control of the world and even time itself. The whole point was that God’s world was way beyond human understanding.

God has the power to do whatever needs to be done, including accomplishing His will for our lives. Why, at times, does God not tell us why? How do you think Job felt after hearing these questions from God?

We Know Very Little Compared to God’s Complete Knowledge Job 38:22-38

We Know Very Little Compared to God’s Complete Knowledge Even as we learn more about the world, we find even more that we don’t understand. We can praise God for what we have been able to learn; but we should develop humility for how much lies beyond us.

God knows and understands everything, including what is best for our lives. How did God’s questions help Job gain perspective on what was happening in his life? Why can we trust God with what is going on in our lives?

We Are Extremely Limited Compared to God’s Boundless Presence and Design Job 38:39–39:30

Job 38 and 39 remind us that God created the universe and everything in it, and that He is the Sovereign Lord of all!

We Are Extremely Limited Compared to God’s Boundless Presence and Design God sees us as we go about life, just as He sees the animals. He is there at every phase of our lives. Should we not understand that God has purposes for us, too?

God is always with us and has a perfect design for our lives. What can we learn about God from His exploration of the animal kingdom with Job?

God is always with us and has a perfect design for our lives. What does God’s rule and design of the animal kingdom tell us about our own lives?

Why was it important that Job have this perspective while going through the difficulty he was facing? What did it teach him? How can this perspective help us when we are going through difficulty we do not understand?
