PREVENTION Travel Risk Intelligence Pre-Travel Training Formal Travel Risk Management Plan MONITORING Itinerary Traveler Tracking GPS/Personnel Tracking Automated Alerts Ongoing Monitoring of Situations RESPONSE 24/7 Medical & Security Response Assistance and Evacuation

3 There Is A Lot At Stake

4 87% Of cases in which employers were sued by an employee (or his/her survivors) over failure to provide duty of care were lost by employers. 50+ Percent of employees would consider taking legal action against their employer in the event of a mishandled emergency. The bottom line is, employers lose when a travel risk management plan fails to protect. Source: 1 Dr. Lisbeth Claus, human resources professor at Willamette University

5 Gaps Exist In Companies’ TRM Programs
Even the companies that do offer a DOC program, many of them have gaps. Review stats… So how do companies prepare travelers and protect their organization? With a comprehensive plan that incorporates prevention, monitoring and response. We know that all risks can’t be avoided but proper preparation can reduce some of these risks. 6 Companies Need Guidance. . .
63% of companies said they don’t have a TRM program in place1 Don’t Believe “it” will happen Don’t feel legally obligated Think insurance alone is TRM From the employers perspective, 63% admitted they don’t have a comprehensive DOC program in place. There are three core beliefs that are behind this alarming number: “head in the sand” – They don’t believe they are at risk. “apathy” Don’t feel legally obligated. They are “putting it off” - they recognize the exposure, they know there are solutions out there but they either don’t know where to start or simply haven’t devoted the time to tackling the project. Once again, this is where a trusted advisor plays a big role….in all 3 scenarios. A 2011 poll of companies by StarCite

7 Key Considerations For Advising Your Clients on Travel Risk

8 Before Travel Do your clients track their business travelers?
Do your travel services fit into the clients overall travel security policy? How is compliance of these processes enforced? Do you provide medical and security advice for business travelers? Andy will ask questions of Jay and Erin: To Jay – is it the responsibility of the risk manager to create the overall plan, or should they rely on their broker? (Answer is both) To Erin – As a travel risk expert, how do you weigh the cost of the various program components vs the level of protections you provide to your travelers? Open to add other questions here. This will be the last slide before attendee questions, so we can add any other topics as needed.
