Selling and presenting yourself online requires an extra sense of awareness, coupled with a creative ability to construct a compelling narrative. Same fundamentals apply. Use correct English. Facebook Many people say: Don’t mix business and pleasure. I think sales and marketing is the exception to that theory. 2 Facebook pages. Facebook is like a cocktail party online. Share family photos and work related issues. Stay away from politics, religion anything sexual or cultural intonations. No profanity, ever. Dogs, kids and food are always safe content. Limit your posts during business hours. Twitter Determine how you will use Twitter. Reach clients, chat about your company, yourself. Brand yourself. Post content that is valuable. Follow clients, potential clients, sales gurus, press, corporate entities, competitors Create #hashtag list Ask questions, Repost and Retweet, but comment as much as possible Twitter in particular offers opportunity to connect with professionals who might not otherwise give you the time of day. Look for twitter chats that revolve around your industry, or better yet, the industry you want as a client.
