3 Eats, Shoots and Leaves Today we are going to have story time! This story shows us there can be a lot of confusion if we do not know where to put the comma! As we read, please discuss as a class: Why is the comma important? How does the meaning change with or without a comma? How can we remember when to use a comma?

4 Okay, Okay, All Joking Aside… Commas are important. There were so many ways “Eats, Shoots and Leaves” showed the necessity of the comma! Both the lack of commas and the overuse of commas leads to confusion. Confusion leads to wrong interpretations. Wrong interpretations leads to fights and unhappiness. Avoid unhappiness…use commas correctly.

5 Close Enough…? Dear Jack, I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior.
