RATIONALE About DTI-RuMEPP – Target poor enterprising province (South Cotabato), one of the 19 accdg to NAPC – Provides BDS to micro-entrepreneurs (level 1) About the Project – Provides comprehensive package on bamboo industry development gearing towards promotion of e- bamboo – Legal Basis: EO 879, May 2010

Target Project Outputs LGU is supportive of Bamboo industry through the creation of bamboo industry development council Bamboo related intervention in the Province is harmonized through the implementation of concrete bamboo industry plan (2011-2013) Bamboo furniture/craft in the Province is responsive to current market needs through production of innovative and market driven products that is competitive with other players. Engineered bamboo is advocated through E-bamboo roadshows. Ascertain supply of bamboo in the province to support a bamboo hub that will produce e-bamboo products

Strategies Bamboo stakeholders forum and workshop on Bamboo industry development plan Issuance of EO by the Governor for the creation of bamboo industry development council Bamboo data consolidation (availability of bamboo) with DENR Gather data on DepEd’s requirement of desks and chairs for the next five years Training cum production on new design for bamboo furniture with TESDA, DA, DTI Provision of other BDS/ technical trainings like nursery, clump management, splitting, business mgt, FMT
