U3-W1: Who is the REAL Hero of The Lightning Thief & Develop a Claim LessonVocabulary Hero’s Journey Hero’s Journey Introduction Introduction Claim Claim Thesis Statement Thesis Statement Argumentative Essay Argumentative Essay Connection In our last session, we entered the final phase of analyzing texts by aligning the Hero’s Journey with that of The Lightning Thief that typically follow Joseph Campbell’s idea that fantasy stories tend to follow a pattern, an archetype, a particular structure—known as The Hero’s Journey. Today, we begin thinking and writing about our own interpretation of the “hero’s” journey. First, it is imperative to analyze the true meaning of a “hero” and who best fits those characteristics. Next, it is time to develop a claim (thesis statement with minimum 2 reasons). Then, complete the INTRODUCTION with the necessary components (Background & Hook) for an effective argumentative essay.
