AUTHENTIC? What does it mean to be AUTHENTIC? “Conforming to fact and therefore worthy of trust, reliance, or belief; not counterfeit or copied.” The authentic person is reliable because their inner values and motivations are clear. “Knowing and staying true to ones authentic Self is the foundation of Leadership”

“ A leader knows their values and remains true to them” Values =Principles that define/determine your moral/ethical behavior. Values govern the way we behave, communicate and interact with others Beliefs are concepts that we hold to be true. Beliefs derive from your values.

Value Reaction Cycle VALUE Work Ethic BELIEF All successful people have work ethic and are financially stable. Opinion All “good/smart” people do their best at work and have a successful financially stable life. Reaction Have an adverse outlook on the homeless, unemployed, and people who struggle at work. Are validated by their jobs. Perception If you don’t have a job you are lazy, have no common sense and deserve to be in you circumstances

How to become Authentic? Identify your values and passions Identify ethical behavior Identify role models that have the same values and passions Spend time reflecting on weather your actions are consistent with your values. Identify areas that you need growth in Commit to your own physical well being.

An Authentic Leader: Is ethical and honest in all circumstances Delivers on commitments Accepts responsibility for behavior Can describe personal values and how they fit with life choices Has a better sense of self that integrates body, mind and spirit.
